Cardinals Radio Announcer Laughed at Red Sox For Holding on Kolten Wong Before Game-Ending Pickoff (Audio)

Game 4 of the 2013 World Series provided another shocking ending to what has been an instant classic between the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals.

For the final out of Sunday’s game, Boston closer Koji Uehara picked off Cardinals’ pinch runner and rookie Kolten Wong, who couldn’t get back to first base before he was tagged out by Mike Napoli. The play secured a 4-2 victory for the Red Sox, which evened the series at two games apiece going into Monday night’s pivotal Game 5 in St. Louis.

Before the final out was recorded, Cardinals radio play-by-play man Mike Shannon from KMOX in St. Louis laughed at Boston’s decision to hold Wong on at first base, saying  “Why would they be holding, that’s silly.”

Moments later, Wong was picked off and Shannon, like many Cardinals fans, was stunned.
