Cordarrelle Patterson kicked off Sunday Night Football in a big way, setting an NFL record to start the game.

The Vikings rookie returned the opening kickoff 109 yards for a touchdown against the Packers, making it the longest kick return in NFL history. Patterson broke the previous record of 108 yards that was held by Jacoby Jones, who most recently accomplished the feat in Super Bowl XLVII.

The return man also tied the unbreakable record for the longest play in NFL history, matching Antonio Cromartie‘s 109-yard missed field goal return from 2007 that also took place in Minnesota.

It was Patterson’s second kickoff return touchdown of the season.

Check out the impressive return in the GIFs below with a hat tip to Bleacher Report.
