David OrtizDavid Price said a lot of things on Saturday night that he presumably regrets, but the Rays pitcher is trying to keep the bridge burning to a minimum.

After indulging in a Twitter rant that essentially boiled down to Price’s resume and calling TBS analysts nerds, the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner took to the social media site once again, but this time to apologize for his outburst.

Somewhat overshadowed by Price’s listing of his college accomplishments, were his comments directed at David Ortiz. Price expressed some frustration after the Rays’ 7-4 loss in Game 2 of the ALDS, venting that he believed Big Papi admired his second home run of the game for a moment too long.

“He steps in the bucket and he hits a homer,” Price said, “and he stares at it to see if it’s fair or foul. I’m sure that’s what he’d say. But as soon as he hit it and I saw it, I knew it was fair. Run.”

Ortiz was somewhat surprised by the accusation, and after the game he told reporters he was simply watching to see if it was going to hook foul. The miscommunication between the two didn’t last for long, however, as Price reportedly called Ortiz after the two had left the ballpark and talked it out, according to Comcast Sportsnet New England’s Sean McAdam.

“We had a good talk,” said Ortiz, who declined to get into specifics about the conversation. “It’s all good, man.”

The series shifts to Tampa Bay for Game 3 on Monday night.
