Boston Red SoxTrue to the 2013 Red Sox, Boston punched its ticket to the ALCS in dramatic fashion.

The Rays used nine pitchers in the contest, the Sox staged a seventh-inning rally and Koji Uehara tossed the final four outs to close out an eventful Game 4 at Tropicana Field.

Tampa struck first in the fourth inning after David DeJesus‘ single into right field scored Yunel Escobar, but the Sox’ bullpen made sure they didn’t strike again. The Red Sox got on the board with two runs in the seventh inning, with Xander Bogaerts scoring on a wild pitch and Jacoby Ellsbury quickly following after Shane Victorino hustled out an infield single.

The Red Sox added an insurance run in the final inning, but it wasn’t even needed as Uehara pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to finish off their ALDS and finish off the Rays.

With Uehara jumping into David Ross‘ arms, the celebration began — and have no fear, Jonny Gomes‘ army helmet made the trip to Florida as well — as the Red Sox celebrated getting one step closer to their ultimate goal.
