Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba became the third NHL player to be stretchered off the ice this week when he missed a check on Blues defenseman Jordan Leopold and fell face first into the end boards during the second period of Friday’s game in Winnipeg.

Both players went behind the net to win possession of the puck, and it looked like Trouba lost his balance as he attempted his hit on Leopold. It was a scary scene in Winnipeg, but luckily the promising young rookie was able to give the fans at the MTS Centre a thumbs up prior to leaving the ice.

Trouba was the ninth overall pick in the 2012 NHL Draft and made his NHL debut earlier this month. Through seven games, the young defenseman has played well at both ends of the ice and is playing meaningful minutes for Winnipeg coach Claude Noel.
