Jets’ Jeff Cumberland Makes Diving Catch After Near-Interception on Crazy Play (GIF)

Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good.

That was the case for New York Jets tight end Jeff Cumberland during the first quarter of Monday night’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. After catching a pass from quarterback Geno Smith on a third-down play, Cumberland loses the football as it pops up into the air for Falcons defensive backs to intercept.

But the Jets were fortunate that the ball was tipped back into Cumberland’s hands in one of the craziest plays of the NFL season so far. New York would finish the drive with a field goal.
