It was clear that John Scott was going to sit out an extended period of time for his hit on Loui Eriksson. The question, of course, was how long the Buffalo Sabres forward would miss.

The answer is seven games.

The NHL announced Thursday afternoon that Scott would be suspended seven games for what was deemed an illegal hit to the head of Eriksson in the Bruins-Sabres matchup on Oct. 23. Scott was suspended indefinitely and was given an in-person hearing with the NHL. That hearing took place Thursday where Scott learned of his supplemental discipline.

Eriksson left the game after the third-period hit, and he was eventually diagnosed with a concussion. He has yet to return and is not even skating at this point. He did make an appearance at Bruins practice earlier in the week, but he’s not expected to skate in the next few days at least.
