Jon LesterThe Boston Red Sox are one game away from a World Series title, and they’ll have the chance to clinch at Fenway Park.

Thanks to some early scoring by the Sox’ offense and another strong showing from starting pitcher Jon Lester, the Red Sox are masters of their own destiny. Lester pitched an impressive 8 2/3 innings, with the only blemish coming from a solo home run hit by Matt Holiday. Lester allowed just four hits, did not walk a batter and struck out seven, doing his part to help the Sox to victory.

Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz hit back-to-back doubles in the first inning to give the Sox a 1-0 lead, and the Cards just didn’t have the offensive power to keep up. David Ross increased the Sox’ lead in the seventh with an RBI double, and Jacoby Ellsbury helped tack on an insurance run when he hit an RBI single.

Koji Uehara entered the game with two outs in the eighth and recorded his second save of the series.
