Poor baserunning is one way to drive baseball managers crazy.

With men on first and second and two outs in the bottom half of the first inning, the Detroit Tigers had a golden opportunity to open up an early lead on the Boston Red Sox in the crucial Game 5 of the ALCS.

Instead, the Tigers got no runs because Miguel Cabrera chose to run home from second on a single by Jhonny Peralta despite getting a stop sign from his third base coach.

The reigning AL MVP tried to ram into Red Sox catcher David Ross, but the 36-year-old veteran held onto the ball to record the final out of the inning. Just minutes later, Boston’s offense awoke and tallied three runs off of Detroit starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez.
