After the Boston Red Sox lost 93 games during the 2012 season, not many critics gave credence to the idea that the team could become champions in 2013.
But the Red Sox have done the improbable, winning 97 games on their way to becoming 2013 World Series champions. Even Red Sox management understands that there is some randomness and luck involved in the game of baseball, but president and CEO Larry Lucchino says the team had the right pieces in place to capitalize on their opportunities.
