Baseball fever has once again gripped the region, and the New England Revolution are not immune to what the Red Sox have spread.

Although they’re gearing up for their team’s first playoff run in four years, a few New England Revolution players congratulated the Sox after they won the World Series on Wednesday.

Diego Fagundez and Jose Goncalves, New England’s 2013 Team MVP and Defender of the Year respectively, tweeted notes of congratulations, as did playmaker Lee Nguyen and striker Chad Barrett. The Revs’ official Twitter account also joined in supporting the Red Sox.

The Revs hope the Red Sox’ magic dust sprinkles on them, as they open their MLS Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Semifinals series against Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium. The two-game, aggregate-goals series concludes Wednesday in Kansas City.
