Matt Schaub’s Twitter Account Mysteriously Vanishes As Texans Struggle

Matt SchaubColin Kaepernick responded to his critics in an interesting way last week, favoriting critical tweets as motivation. Matt Schaub is apparently taking a very different approach to the Twitticism.

Schaub’s Twitter account has mysteriously, and maybe conveniently, vanished in recent days, as Nick Wright of 610 SportsRadio in Houston first noted. The Texans quarterback’s @MSchaub8 handle is no longer active on the social media site, and that realization comes at an awful interesting time as he and the Texans continue to struggle.

The Texans fell to 2-2 on the season on Sunday after letting a 17-point second-half lead slip away to the Seahawks. The comeback was capped off when a Schaub pass was intercepted by Richard Sherman late in the fourth quarter and returned 58 yards for the game-tying touchdown. The Texans’ offense went stagnant in overtime as well, allowing the Seahawks to kick a field goal late in the period and pull out the win.

Schaub has struggled mightily this season, especially over the last two weeks. He’s completing 65 percent of his passes but has thrown six interceptions, including two on Sunday, to go along with his eight touchdowns. He also hasn’t completed a pass longer than 32 yards this season.

The Texans are two plays away from being 4-0, and much of the pressure seems to be coming down on Schaub’s shoulders. Fans are so upset with the quarterback that one fan even bought a brand-new Schaub jersey just to burn it.

With all that negativity and criticism, it’s understandable if Schaub decided to delete his Twitter account — although, there is no evidence to support that reasoning. Then again, his GR8 Hope Foundation’s Twitter (@GR8HopeF) is still active, so that’s at least one alternative.
