The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority will be working overtime this week to make sure the crush of Red Sox fans descending on Boston is able to get home safely.
On Wednesday night (and potentially Thursday night should the Cardinals force a Game 7), “subway service will continue until all fans from Fenway Park have been accommodated after the World Series game’s conclusion,” the MBTA announced.
MBTA buses will follow this same protocol.
Several commuter rail lines will also run later than usual. The final trains on the Fitchburgh/South Acton, Haverhill and Lowell lines leaving from North Station and the Franklin and Providence/Stoughton lines leaving from South Station will all be held until 45 minutes after the final out (though no later than 1 a.m.).
The Framingham/Worcester line will depart at its regularly scheduled time, but an extra train will leave from the line’s Yawkey Way station approximately 15 minutes after the final out.
All other commuter rail lines will run as normally scheduled.
First pitch for Game 6 at Fenway is scheduled for 8:07 p.m. ET on Wednesday. If necessary, Game 7 will start at the same time the following night.
