Mike Smith’s Last-Second Empty-Net Goal Made Into Stop-Motion Animation (Video)

Phoenix Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith currently has scored more goals this season than Claude Giroux, Ray Whitney, Mike Green and Dustin Byfuglien — and he’s only scored one.

Two weeks ago, Smith scored an empty-netter with one-tenth of second left to play in his team’s eventual 5-2 win over the Red Wings. With the goal, Smith became the 11th netminder in NHL history to tally a score.

To honor Smith’s achievement, the Coyotes will be hosting Mike Smith bobblehead night, handing out 10,000 mini figurines to fans before their Nov. 9 game against the Capitals. To promote the giveaway, the Coyotes used bobbleheads to make a stop-motion animation depicting Smith’s goal.
