If the first six didn’t work, the NFL tried to send Ndamukong Suh a message by fining him a seventh time this week.
Suh was docked $31,500 for a questionable hit on Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden during last week’s game. The fine was Suh’s second this season. He was also forced to pay $100,000 earlier this year after throwing a low block on Vikings center John Sullivan. NFL vice president of operations Merton Hanks says that this most recent fine was done to get Suh’s attention.
“The fine is more than the minimum because he is a repeat offender and I wanted to get Ndamukong Suh’s attention in this regard,” Hanks said in an interview with NFL Network’s Andrea Kramer. “I’ve got to help him course correct.”
Suh’s seven fines now total $209,000 over his three-plus seasons in the pros. Add the $165,294 he lost in game checks during a two-game suspension for a cheap shot against Green Bay Packers tackle Evan Dietrich-Smith in 2010, and Suh has had to forfeit $374,294 in total during his career. That should be enough of a message on its own.
