For as long as Hockey East has been around, NESN has been there to catch all the action.

On Oct. 17, 1984, NESN broadcast its very first Hockey East game — a match that saw a Boston College squad beat Northeastern 7-5. Since its inception, the conference has dominated the college hockey world, annually putting together a collective winning percentage against non-conference opponents, including a record .705 during the 2002-03 season and a .669 win percentage during the 25th anniversary season of 2008-09, and also boasts eight NCAA title winners.

Let’s take it back to Oct. 17, 1984, with Sean McDonough on the play-by-play and Dave Shea as the color analyst. Scott Marshall and Jim Averill had goals for the Huskies, while Kevin Stevens, Scott Harlow and Doug Brown notched scores for BC.

Check out the above video to see highlights from the game, and an interview with legendary Boston University hockey coach Jack Parker.
