Edmonton Oilers star Taylor Hall is one of the best left wingers in the NHL, and he showed his remarkable goal-scoring talent on Thursday night by scoring two goals in just eight seconds against the New York Islanders.
The impressive feat resulted in the former No. 1 overall pick breaking Wayne Gretzky‘s Oilers record for the fastest time taken to score two goals in a single game. The Great One’s record was two goals in nine seconds set in 1981.
Hall’s first goal was a case of right place, right time. He got a bit of puck luck as a rebound bounced right to him and he shot it into an empty net as Islanders goaltender Evgeni Nabokov was still recovering from the previous attempt on goal.
His second goal was scored in a similar fashion. Nabokov made a pad save to deny a shot from Oilers forward Mark Arcobello, and Hall was sitting in a perfect position to the left of the net to bury the loose puck.
