Marquice ColeMarquice Cole and Kanorris Davis are battling for the distinct honor of being named “The New Ross Ventrone.”

Dating back to March, Cole has been involved in seven transactions. Davis has been involved in eight transactions since May.

The Patriots re-signed Cole and released Davis on Monday. The rookie safety is expected to be re-signed to the practice squad, if he clears waivers, on Tuesday. Cole has been dealing with a hamstring injury that has kept him from playing in games. Rather than making him inactive for games, they release him and re-sign him on Monday. The Patriots have yet to lose the cornerback/special teamer.

The Patriots also released linebacker Ja’Gared Davis on Monday. He was signed on Saturday to play special teams against the Bengals.

The Patriots have one open roster spot.
