Jrue Holiday was traded this offseason. Maybe he needs to be reminded of that.

Holiday, who spent his first four NBA seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, was sent to New Orleans over the summer to be the Pelicans’ new franchise point guard. His first night in the new digs didn’t go so hot, though.

The Pelicans opened their season at home in front of a sellout crowd in the New Orleans Arena, and Holiday was given the role of ambassador for his new fans. The All-Star point guard got real loud and animated in his pump-up speech, telling fans he was expecting a great season and welcoming them on behalf of the 76ers. No, that’s not a typo. Holiday welcomed the Pelicans fans to the Pelicans’ arena for the first official game as the Pelicans on behalf of the 76ers. Oops.

Aside from the pregame mishap, Holiday actually had himself quite the game on the court, scoring 24 points to go along with seven rebounds and five assists. But the Pelicans still lost to the Pacers 95-90.

Maybe next time Anthony Davis or Eric Gordon can take the mic instead, and leave Holiday’s focus on the court — at least until he settles in.

Check out Holiday’s momentary brain fart below.
