Aldon SmithThe charges against Aldon Smith continue to pile up.

The Santa Clara County District Attorney has filed three felony charges of possession of assault weapons against 49ers defensive end, a source told NBC Bay Area.

The charges stem from a lawsuit that accuses Smith of owning illegal firearms and firing weapons at a 2012 party at his home in San Jose.

Two guests were shot at said party, and although the lawsuit reportedly does not claim that Smith was the shooter, it does ask for the Pro Bowler to be held responsible because the alleged incident took place on his property.

Smith is on “indefinite leave” from the team after being arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and marijuana possession on Sept. 20, though he did play in a 27-7 loss to Indianapolis two days after his arrest.
