Report: Braves Refused to Catch Chipper Jones’ First Pitch After Former Third Baseman Picked Dodgers in NLDS

It really does not take much to become an enemy of the Atlanta Braves.

The team has started a number of scuffles over the particulars of baseball etiquette this season, and Braves players reportedly boycotted a ceremonial first pitch thrown out by one of the greatest players in franchise history after he picked against the team on a radio show.

Atlanta’s mascot caught that first pitch from future Hall of Famer Chipper Jones prior to Game 1 of the National League division series after no player “volunteered” to do so, according to the New York Post. During an interview with 680 The Fan in Atlanta earlier in the day, Jones had picked the Dodgers to take the series in four games.

The team may not have been pleased with it, but Jones’ prediction proved to be correct. Los Angeles won the series 3-1 on Monday to clinch a spot in the NLCS.

See how Jones reacted to the awkward first pitch in the tweets below.
