Big changes to the Celtics’ broadcast coverage will not affect the place that matters most to fans — at least, not for home games.
Tom Heinsohn and Mike Gorman will remain on the sideline calling Celtics games for the 33rd straight year, but Heinsohn will provide color commentary only for games at TD Garden, The Boston Globe reports. That small change in CSNNE’s broadcast plan was part of a massive shakeup in the rest of its Celtics coverage.
Sideline reporter Greg Dickerson has been replaced by Abby Chin and studio analyst Donny Marshall was let go in favor of a team that will include Dave Cowens, Tim Welsh and Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix, according to Chad Finn. For road games, Gorman will be joined by Cowens, Chris Herren, Danny Ainge, Cedric Maxwell and others.
Kyle Draper reportedly will replace Gary Tanguay on the pre- and postgame shows.
Heinsohn has stayed in Boston more often in recent years, particularly during long, midseason road trips. Brian Scalabrine filled in ably as Heinsohn’s replacement last season, but is unavailable this year as Scal recently accepted a job as an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors.
