Sarah Newlon Says Stand Up to Cancer Sign Wasn’t Meant to Mock Event, Apologizes That ‘It Came Across Poorly’

Very few excuses will be accepted when someone appears to take a potshot at a good cause.

But Sarah Newlon, a former contestant on The Bachelor who was caught on Sunday night’s Game 4 broadcast appearing to mock Stand Up to Cancer, is giving it a try.

Newlon went on Twitter on Sunday night to give her take on what came across as a mean jab at the Stand Up to Cancer moment at the World Series game. She wrote “Molina” on one of the cards that were handed out to commemorate people fighting cancer, and she was standing next to a Red Sox fan. That led some people to think she was mocking Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina and the cancer cause.
