It was Shane Victorino‘s turn to play the role of the hero for the Red Sox on Saturday night.

Finding themselves trailing by one to the Tigers, the right fielder stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded and one out in the seventh. Jonny Gomes got the magic rolling, leading off the inning with a double. After Stephen Drew went down swinging, Xander Bogaerts worked a walk and that effectively ended Max Scherzer‘s night.

Drew Smyly took over on the mound to face Jacoby Ellsbury, who hit a ball up the middle that Jose Iglesias couldn’t field cleanly. The stage was set for Victorino and the Flyin’ Hawaiian came through in the clutch, launching a grand slam over the Green Monster to regain Boston’s lead.
