Vince Carter is 36 years young and does not see any reason to stop playing basketball anytime soon.
The veteran forward said in training camp that he thinks he has at least a few more years left to play, even as the years limit the bounce in his once-springy legs. Now in the last year of his contract with the Dallas Mavericks, Carter told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that he will “let the body pretty much dictate how [he is] feeling at the end.”
“I’ll be a year older, but I don’t feel a year older, so that’s a good thing,” Carter told Dwain Price.
The Mavericks wiped millions in salary off their books during the offseason in an effort to draw more free agents like Dwight Howard, Deron Williams and Chris Paul. Although none of those stars landed in Dallas, the Mavericks regrouped to acquire Monta Ellis, Jose Calderon and Devin Harris to put around Dirk Nowitzki.
