Barack Obama didn’t put on a Red Sox hat he was given on Wednesday upon landing in Boston ahead of a speech on healthcare. A day later, though, the president’s press secretary donned the cap of the World Series champions.

White House press secretary Jay Carney took the podium Thursday in Washington for a daily press briefing while wearing a Red Sox ballcap. Carney is a D.C. native, so it’s unclear what the motive is, but regardless, he was one of many across the country and world wearing the “B” on Thursday.

Obama was in Boston for a speech and fundraiser regarding his healthcare plan. Boston mayor Tom Menino gave the president a cap just after the president landed in town, but Obama never put on the cap.
