Colorado Avalanche forward Cody McLeod has already been suspended once this season, and he could easily receive a second one for boarding Minnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin on Friday.

The collision happened during the first period, when Brodin had his back turned to McLeod near the Avalanche bench. Even though McLeod could see his opponent’s numbers, he still made a dangerous and reckless hit from behind that caused Brodin’s head to slam against the boards. The Colorado winger was given a five-minute major penalty for boarding and was ejected.

McLeod’s earlier suspension came on Oct. 21 when he was banned five games for boarding Detroit Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall. No one should be surprised if the 29-year-old forward gets another suspension of five games or longer for his latest boarding penalty.
