Bat KidSometimes, the world can be an OK place.

Those losing faith in humanity need not look any further than Friday’s events in San Francisco as proof that people really are capable of doing good deeds. That’s where 5-year-old Miles Scott was granted an absolutely amazing wish by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Scott, who is in remission from leukemia, has a passion for comic books. On Friday, he got to live one, as Scott played the role of Batman as thousands of people lined the streets of San Francisco.

Scott went from spot to spot around the city and fought crime — playfully, of course — which resulted in a social media outburst. Twitter users everywhere were glued to Scott’s quest to save the city, with hashtag #SFBatKid soon trending. Among those captured by Scott, who even rode around in a Batmobile, were the Joker and the Penguin.

The incredible wish took Scott to AT&T Park — home of the San Francisco Giants. It was there where he took down the Penguin and saved the Giants’ mascot, Lou Seal. The Giants, as well as the 49ers, joined in the fun, adding to what was undoubtedly a special day for San Fran’s mini savior.

While some were able to take in the scene live and in person, others were forced to follow along on the Internet, with the common theme being an outpouring of emotion. Scott aka Batkid stole the hearts of everyone everywhere as part of one big reminder that there is some good in this world.

Everyone is encouraged to check out #SFBatKid on Twitter. It won’t take you long to see just how awesome the whole thing is. Below are some tweets from teams, athletes and media personalities around the sports world.
