Miley Cyrus proved to be instrumental in Belmont University’s win over 11th-ranked North Carolina.

The pop star may not have made it into the team’s game plan, but one dedicated and loud fan ensured that she helped out the Bruins on Sunday afternoon.

During the first half, UNC forward James Michael McAdoo went to the line for a pair of free throws, but his attention may have shifted elsewhere while he was preparing to shoot as a Belmont fan showed off his pipes, launching into an a capella rendition of Cyrus’ hit “Wrecking Ball.”

The only thing stranger than hearing a man tenderly belt out the catchy song may be that the distracting incident occurred in Chapel Hill. As home-court advantage momentarily went out the window, so did McAdoo’s free throw skills, as he missed the shot.

The Bruins would go on to complete the upset, stunning the Tar Heels at home, 83-80.
