Parade photo galleryThe Boston Red Sox are World Series champions for the third time in the last decade. Any Boston sports fan born within the last 10 years has been spoiled by the recent success of the city’s teams, because before that it didn’t come so easily.

It had been 95 years, though, since the Red Sox clinched the World Series on their own turf at Fenway Park. On Wednesday night, the team did just that, beating the Cardinals in Game 6 at home in front of the Fenway Faithful.

On Saturday, those same fans supported the team as they boarded the famous duck boats and set off from Fenway on a tour around the city. The parade was highlighted by touching tributes at the site of the Boston Marathon finish line, and the traditional dip into the Charles River.

The boats had beards, Ryan Dempster celebrated the first World Series win of his 17-year career, and apparently, Jake Peavy loved the duck boats so much that he bought one. It was all part of a special day in Boston.
