Kyle Long may owe his older brother an extra-special Christmas gift this year.

As St. Louis defensive end Chris Long and Chicago right guard Kyle Long matched up against one another for the first time on Sunday, things got heated during the second period, prompting some brotherly instincts to quickly take over.

After a Josh McCown pass fell incomplete, a shoving match ensued away from the play. The Bears guard was right in the middle of the scuffle, even seen kicking a Rams player on the turf, but before things could escalate even further, his older brother Chris ran onto the field from the sideline and pulled him away from the pile.

Although Kyle was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct on the play, his brother clearly minimized the damage by making a beeline for the rookie guard, presumably saving him from the ejection that was likely headed his way.

Brotherly love won out on Sunday as the Rams ended up taking the game, 42-21.
