BZIc9PrCQAIRPC1FOXBORO, Mass. — Is it a coincidence that Danny Amendola‘s first week of practice with full participation is coming with a mustache above his upper lip? Maybe, maybe not.

The Patriots receiver is growing the facial hair for Movember, which encourages the growing of mustaches to raise awareness for men’s health issues, including prostate cancer. Matthew Slater and Nate Solder are also participating.

“It’s going well,” Amendola said. “I don’t know. You tell me, I guess. I still got a couple more weeks left.”

Amendola appears to have a leg up on Slater and Solder, especially. Solder’s mustache is looking wispy and blonde.

“Slater’s inching up,” Amendola said. “But I think Nate has to dye his. But it’s all good. It’s fun.”

It would be unfair for Rob Ninkovich to compete. Ninkovich has been growing his impressive beard since training camp. Amendola compared the defensive end’s facial hair to that of a character from an old ABC sitcom.

“Yeah, he has an Al Borland thing going on,” Amendola said. “He’s got serious hair.”

Amendola has dealt with groin and head injuries this season, but he was a full participant in practice on Thursday for the first time since the season began.

“I feel good,” Amendola said. “I feel ready to go. I don’t know what percentage anybody’s at. But I feel good enough.”
