Darren Helm flipped his way to a highlight-reel goal on Friday night, showing off his acrobatic prowess as he captured his second tally of the night.

With the Red Wings shorthanded, the speedy forward went charging down the ice to chase a loose puck, racing a couple of Islanders players who were approaching him from the front and behind. The obstacles proved to be no problem for Helm, though, as he sprinted past defenseman Andrew MacDonald, and over goaltender Kevin Poulin who was coming way out of the crease to chase the biscuit.

The three-person pileup on the ice certainly overshadowed Helm’s nifty shorthanded goal, as bodies seemed to be flying everywhere for a moment. Helm reached the puck just a hair before Poulin, poking the puck — and his stick– to the back of the net, but the forward was too busy flipping over the goalie to even see his goal go in, giving Detroit a 2-0 lead. MacDonald also followed in Helm’s tumbling footsteps, mirroring his actions and flying helplessly over the goaltender-turned-springboard.

Check out all of the mayhem in the ice in the GIF below, with a fist bump to SB Nation.
