Defensive Breakdown by Bruins Allows Blue Jackets to Take 1-0 Lead (Video)

The Bruins allowed the first goal of Thursday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets because of a defensive breakdown below the goal line.

Instead of having one man defend the front of the net and the other retrieve the puck, Bruins defensemen Zdeno Chara and Dougie Hamilton both went into the corner to win possession, and that left Blue Jackets forward Blake Comeau wide open in front of Boston goaltender Chad Johnson for a high-quality scoring chance.

Comeau took advantage of the opportunity to give Columbus a 1-0 lead, but the Bruins would tie the game six minutes later.
