The Philadelphia Eagles have lost 10 straight games at home dating back to last season, and they’ve gotten an earful from the crowd at Lincoln Financial Field.
With the team’s upcoming home game against the Redskins looming, wide receiver DeSean Jackson acknowledged in his weekly press conference that the Eagles need to get things going. One thing Jackson thinks could help the team at home is more support from the fans, as opposed to the constant booing Eagles fans are known for.
“[We need] everybody in the stands really encouraging instead of the opposite,” Jackson told reporters Tuesday, according to CSNPhilly.com. “Trying to get that energy to be on our side. I feel like it’s against us sometimes.”
The Eagles haven’t won a playoff game since 2008, haven’t had a winning season since 2010 and haven’t had a win at The Linc in more than a year, so fans are rightfully frustrated. Jackson said he doesn’t blame the team’s struggles at home on the fact that fans are booing them, though.
“[I would] never blame that for the reason you’re losing, because you’re a professional athlete and you’ve got a job to do go out there and win a game,” he said. “We already have to beat our opponent. Now we’re trying to fight our fans. That energy to help us go out there and help us [get an] interception, delay of game penalty, whatever it is, we need them on our side, not against us.”
Jackson himself is having a career season with 54 catches for 903 yards and seven touchdowns through 10 games.
