J.R. Smith has committed his fair share of social media dont’s throughout his career, but now he can finally chalk up a win in that area thanks to one loyal and generous fan.

The shooting guard has had a rough go of it the past few weeks, most recently getting fined for threatening Detroit’s Brandon Jennings on Twitter, but he received a little something in the mail that may help him pay that fine — emphasis on the little.

On Monday, Smith posted a handwritten letter on Instagram from a fan named John, revealing that $60 cash was also inside of the piece of fan mail. Apparently, John had won a bet against his buddy in the NBA2K13 game, outscoring his friend who was playing as the Miami Heat using only the Knicks guard. The miracle of all video game miracles occurred, and John won $120 as a result.

Feeling like he owed something to Smith, however, he felt obliged to split the winnings with the man who made it all possible.

Smith may be slated to make $17.9 million over the next three seasons, but John being the cool dude that he is, knows that “money ain’t a thing” to him, but he wanted to fork over his hard-earned dollars anyway.
