Jets Guard Willie Colon Says Jets Aren’t Playoff Team Yet, Can’t Believe they Lost to [Expletive] Buffalo Bills

Willie ColonThe Jets entered Sunday with the inside track on the AFC playoff race, but a visit to Buffalo might have changed all that.

Geno Smith turned the ball over four times and the Jets were trounced 37-14 by the Bills on Sunday, dropping them to 5-5 on the season and right back into the thick of the postseason puddle. The loss also raised questions about the Jets’ place in the playoff picture, including from players within the organization.

Starting right guard Willie Colon wasn’t too happy with the loss, especially since it came against the Bills, but he tried to be realistic when asked about the Jets’ chances at the postseason after Sunday’s loss.

“We’re not going to be a playoff team until they say we’re in the playoffs,” Colon said on Sunday, per the New York Daily News. “Right now, we just lost to the [expletive] Buffalo Bills.”

Colon might be embarrassed by the loss to the Bills, but Buffalo is actually in a lot better position than they may seem on the surface. The Bills are just 4-7 on the season, but they’re not that far behind the Jets in the standings. Buffalo is just two and a half games behind the Jets and Dolphins, who are currently tied for the sixth playoff spot. Six other teams are 4-6 on the year, giving the Bills a difficult challenge in order to make the playoffs, but they’re not quite as bad as Colon’s comment might make you believe.

The Jets had better shape up if they plan on making a playoff push, though. They have a mix of fellow postseason contenders on their schedule in the next few weeks with the Ravens (4-6), Dolphins (5-5), Raiders (4-6) and Panthers (6-3) on the slate.
