Kobe BryantKobe Bryant hates losing more than the average person, but his most recent loss is the University of Louisville’s gain.

The Lakers star found a way to keep his competitive edge sharp while he remained sidelined, making a friendly wager with Louisville’s Kevin Ware about who would return first from their respective gruesome injuries.

Ware, of course, famously suffered a broken leg during the Elite Eight game against Duke last season, but Bryant — who is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon, himself — made the rehabbing process just a little more fun for the two of them, adding a hefty incentive to the grueling affair.

On ESPN’s Sunday Conversation, the junior guard divulged the details of the bet — whoever returns to the court first has to attend one of the other’s games. With Bryant still not medically cleared to make his comeback, Ware made his triumphant return last week, receiving multiple standing ovations in the exhibition game against Pikeville in which he scored six points in ten minutes.

“I got to get in touch with him again so he can make it to a game,” Ware said.
