NBA Suspends Tony Allen One Game for Kick to Chris Paul’s Face

Former Boston Celtics guard Tony Allen has spent the last four seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies, and has become a tremendous perimeter defender with the Western Conference club.

But his impressive defense let him down on Monday night, when he kicked Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul in the face. The kick was almost certainly accidental, and it’s likely that Allen was just trying to block off Paul from penetrating to the basket.

But regardless of his intent, the NBA decided to suspend Allen one game for the incident on Tuesday. As a result, Memphis will have one less guard in its lineup for Wednesday’s road game against the Golden State Warriors.
