It’s been a whirlwind few days for the Red Sox. On Monday, the president joined the mix.

President Barack Obama called Red Sox manager John Farrell on Monday to congratulate him and his team on their recent World Series victory over the Cardinals. According to a press release, Obama lauded the great job that Farrell did in his first year as Boston’s manager, praised Koji Uehara‘s impressive postseason performance and tipped his cap to David Ortiz for earning World Series MVP honors.

“I talked to President Obama about 10 of 2. I’m sure customary to past winners during his administration, he called to congratulate,” Farrell said Monday at Fenway Park. “Hopefully there’s a chance somewhere around Opening Day next year when we open up in Baltimore that we might be able to swing by as a group and say, ‘Hello.’”

The Red Sox open up their 2014 season in Baltimore on March 31.
