Players aren’t the only ones who need to have their heads on a swivel when on the ice, and one ref found that out the hard way.
During a BCHL game between Vernon and Prince George over the weekend, a scrum broke out following a big hit. Refs went in to calm things down, but one player let a wild haymaker fly, and it caught the jaw of linesman Ryan Dawson, who went down like a sack of potatoes.
Vernon Vipers’ T.J. Dumonceaux was assessed a 10-minute misconduct and game misconduct for popping the official, which can be seen below.
