JasonMaybe Sam Hurd was right, and NFL players do have a marijuana problem.

First, it was Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe being arrested and charged with possession of marijuana earlier this week. Now, Falcons running back Jason Snelling is the most recent perpetrator.

Snelling was pulled over around 3:30 on Friday morning after police observed his car couldn’t stay in its lane, according to the Barrow County News. Police noticed a “strong marijuana odor” coming from the car, leading to an inspection of the vehicle. Snelling admitted to smoking weed at a friend’s house earlier in the night and to having some leftover pot in a grinder in the center console of his car. There appears to be more to the story, though.

Police observed Snelling repeatedly trying to swallow during their conversation with him outside the car. One officer asked Snelling to open his mouth and noticed “green leafy particles,” which may have been more weed, inside. Snelling, 29, denied eating any marijuana.

Snelling was soon thereafter placed under arrest. He has been charged with possession of marijuana (less than one ounce), possession of drug-related materials, having an expired or no driver’s license, failure to maintain his lane, failure to maintain insurance, improper use of a dealer license plate and no registration.

Snelling has 36 carries for 132 yards and one touchdown as well as 19 catches for 159 yards and two receiving touchdowns this season. If the Falcons take the same approach that the Chiefs did with Bowe, it’s unlikely Snelling will face any immediate punishment from the team.
