Kobe Bryant‘s return is imminent. It’s just not as imminent as some people might assume.

Bryant, who has been cleared with no restrictions to practice with the Lakers, spoke to reporters on Tuesday and threw some cold water on Lakers fans’ high hopes. With the Lakers preparing to take on the Wizards, Bryant clarified that his return will come within “weeks,” not “days,” as some have guessed.

The Lakers are 7-7 in Bryant’s absence and entered Tuesday one spot out of the extremely early playoff picture. Without Bryant dominating the ball, the Lakers’ ball movement is better, but their overall offense is inconsistent. The Lakers are 10th in the NBA in assists, but just 14th in points per game.
