Leon WashingtonThe Patriots have added some depth at cornerback.

New England released running back Leon Washington and promoted cornerback Justin Green from the practice squad. Washington has been dealing with an ankle injury. He has suited up for just two games this season.

Green’s promotion to the 53-man roster likely does not bode well for the status of cornerback Alfonzo Dennard, who reportedly had a scope on his meniscus this week. Aqib Talib has also been dealing with a hip injury and Kyle Arrington had been bothered by a groin injury for much of the season.

Green is an undrafted rookie out of Illinois. He was originally signed July 21.
