Luck was on Chris Kreider‘s side on Sunday.

First, the Panthers were unable to capitalize when Kreider’s dumb and unnecessary cross-check on Florida’s Scottie Upshall near the benches forced the Rangers to play a man down for the final 1:15 of a one-goal game.

Some, including Larry Brooks of the New York Post, thought the NHL might suspend Kreider for the hit, which came just before both skaters left the ice. However, Pro Hockey Talk reported Monday morning that the Boxford, Mass., native and Boston College alum will not face any supplemental discipline from the league.

New York held on for a 4-3 victory following Kreider’s hit, their third win in a row and sixth in their last seven games.
