Richie Incognito has been suspended indefinitely by the Miami Dolphins.

The offensive lineman allegedly played a large role in the “bullying” that teammate Jonathan Martin endured, leading the second-year player to leave the team last week and seek medical counseling.

Although Incognito originally pledged his innocence on the matter, Martin officially issued a formal complaint against the organization, raising allegations of player misconduct. This action prompted the Dolphins to announce on Sunday that they would be investigating the situation further, with the suspension coming just hours after the team made the announcement.

Several reports indicate that Incognito was the “ringleader” of the harsh treatment that Martin experienced while on the team, and that Martin was afraid to speak up, fearful of the backlash he would receive from the veteran.

NFL Network’s Jeff Darlington reports that head coach Joe Philbin informed Incognito of his suspension.
