Source: Patriots Sign Former Texans, Notre Dame Running Back Cierre Wood

460xFOXBORO, Mass. — The Patriots added another running back on Tuesday.

New England signed rookie Cierre Wood, according to a source. He was spotted at practice wearing No. 35. Wood will take the empty spot on the Patriots’ practice squad.

Wood was released by the Texans two weeks ago after breaking team rules. He worked out for the Patriots on Monday.

The Notre Dame product carried the ball three times for 9 yards while with Houston. He had 114 carries for 742 yards his final season with the Fighting Irish.

There was another new player at practice, a wide receiver wearing No. 16.
