Will Middlebrooks may be sitting this one out.

The MLB has begun auctioning off relics from the St. Louis-Boston World Series, and in addition to the standard items such as the Red Sox’ Game 6 lineup card, a champagne bottle from the clubhouse celebration and the ball from Mike Napoli‘s bases-clearing double in Game 1, the “obstruction” base from Game 3 is also available for sale.

That fateful base was the scene of the crime as Middlebrooks’ legs flew up in the air and Allen Craig stumbled on his way to home plate, leading the controversial call to be made as the Cardinals took Game 3, winning in wild fashion on the walk-off obstruction call.

The bizarre ending didn’t “obstruct” the Red Sox from reaching their ultimate goal, however, as they would eventually go on to beat St. Louis in six games, but the play remains one of the iconic moments from the series and the fans seem to agree as the highest bid for the infamous bag is up to $3,000 as of  Monday night at 11:55 EST.

Check out the base in the photo below, and get your bid in quick as this hot commodity could make for a controversial Christmas gift.
