Wes Welker, Jimmy SmithFor months now, Wes Welker has likely had Nov. 24 circled on his calendar.

That’s when the slot receiver returns to New England to face his former teammates. Now, though, Welker’s status for Sunday night’s game is in doubt.

The Broncos announced Welker suffered a concussion against the Chiefs on Sunday night, according to Pro Football Talk. He went down after taking a shot to the head early in the fourth quarter. Welker came out of the game looking wobbly but came back in for a nine-yard reception later in the drive. He then headed to the locker room, leaving the game for good, to take tests for a concussion.

After Danny Amendola suffered a concussion against the Saints in Week 6, he missed the Patriots’ Week 7 matchup against the Jets. Welker will have to go through a series of tests from an independent neurologist before he’s OK’d to practice and play Week 12 against New England.
