Vernon Davis tried to do his best Bo Jackson impersonation on Sunday afternoon, only he failed miserably.

Davis led the 49ers in receiving yet again during San Francisco’s 34-23 win against the Buccaneers on Sunday, and he racked up most of his 79 receiving yards on one play. Colin Kaepernick saw Davis breaking away from the Bucs’ secondary late in the second quarter, and the quarterback delivered a strike to his tight end, linking up on a 52-yard catch and run for the touchdown.

The score was impressive, but what came next was somewhat concerning. Davis was running full speed when he crossed the goal line, and he managed to run his way right through the back of the end zone in Tampa Bay, blowing by the goal posts and straight into the back wall. Davis didn’t have enough time to really brace himself for the collision, so instead he decided to jump into the padded wall. He took a pretty good hit, even smacking his head off the back padding, and wound up flat on his back on the ground, looking almost motionless.

Fortunately, Davis was alright and stayed in the game, finishing the day with five catches for 79 yards and the one big score.
